This info gives you the full picture of your body as you’re trying to gain muscle mass or lose weight — after all, there’s more to getting fit than the number on the scale.

Want some pro tips on getting the most out of Prime Day? Here’s whatcha need to know:

Know the different types of deals

There are four different kinds of deals you might come across while shopping. Keeping an eye on the deal type will help you know if you need to buy right away or if you have time to spare:

  • Spotlight Deal. On non-Prime Days, these are Amazon’s “Deals of the Days” (DOTDs). They’re 24 and 48 hour-long deals on popular products on Amazon. Amazon will usually showcase these on the home page of its site.
  • Lightning Deal. These deals run for less than 24 hours and are first come, first served. There’s only a limited amount of each product, so you’ll need to get ’em while they’re hot.
  • Can’t Miss, Jaw-Dropping Deal. TBH, there’s not a lot of these. But these are basically the same thing as a Lightning Deal except on top tier brands and categories.
  • Best Deal. These are longer running discounts (more than 48 hours) and promotions on various products.

Watch deals and get notifications

Though Prime Day has an official start date of the 21st, not every single deal goes live at that time. To keep track of deals you’re interested in, you can turn on notifications in the Amazon app to get alerted when certain deals start. This is a major key 🔑 for catching those limited-time deals we mentioned. Learn how to turn them on here.

Take advantage of a $10 credit for supporting small businesses

Prime members that spend at least $10 with a small business from 6/7 to 6/20 can claim a $10 credit to use on Prime Day. That means even moooore savings (woot!) while supporting the businesses that need it most.

Get cash back if you use your Amazon Prime credit card

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card and Amazon Prime Store Card users already get 5% back when shopping on Amazon — but during Prime Day, you get an extra 1% back. That’s a whopping 6% reward for shopping Prime Day.

If you don’t already use an Amazon credit card, you can actually apply for one before Prime Day and potentially get a decision in time to add it to your account to shop deals. You’ll even get a $50 Amazon gift card added to your account if you’re approved for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card and a $100 Amazon gift card if you’re approved for the Amazon Prime Store Card.

Ask Alexa what’s up

If you have an Alexa, she can apparently get you early access to deals by saying, “Alexa, what are my deals?”

It’s unclear exactly what deals she’ll offer you or if they’ll be personalized based on your browsing or purchase history — but hey, it’s always worth asking.

When is Prime Day?

Officially, Amazon Prime Day starts on June 21 and runs through June 22. BUT deals on products started as early as the 13th and can run all the way until July 1 (though the vast majority of deals will start June 20–22).

What kind of deals can I expect?

There are deals on basically everything. From smart home devices, cookware, mattresses, and electronics to activewear, shoes, watches, and fitness gear (and so. much. more.). You’ll find discounts from anywhere between 20 and 90 percent off. 😱

Do I need to be a Prime member to shop Prime Day deals?

Yes. But if you’re not a current member, have no fear. Amazon obviously wants as many people shopping Prime Day as possible, so you can start a 30-day free trial to shop the deals. You’ll just need to remember to cancel it before it charges you the actual membership fee.

If you already used your free trial, it might be worth signing up for a membership (or stealing your parents’ login info… but you didn’t hear that from us 🤐).

Do any other stores have deals on Prime Day?

Prime Day is technically an Amazon event, but competing stores like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy have already announced or started similar sales for the same time frame. You can also shop these sales without a membership, so nonmembers should def check them out.
