The introduction of contentious foods like broccoli at an early age may make for adventurous eaters. The perfect food for your baby’s growing taste buds at around 7 months is an array of vegetables steamed or lightly boiled and then puréed.

Game plan: To reheat the baby food, let it thaw completely in the refrigerator, then heat in the microwave or on the stovetop. Stir well before serving.

  • Yield: 1 3/4 cups
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Total: 15 mins
  • Active: 15 mins

Ingredients (2)

  • 1 medium head broccoli, washed, tough ends trimmed, and cut into florets (about 12 ounces)
  • 3 ounces formula, water, or breast milk

Instructions

  1. Fill a large saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Add broccoli and boil until it is bright green and just gives when pierced with a knife, about 3 minutes.
  2. Drain and place in a food processor fitted with a blade attachment. With the motor running, add the formula, water, or breast milk. Process until smooth, about 1 minute, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Let cool slightly, then divide into 1/4-cup portions, place in airtight containers, and refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 6 weeks until ready to use.
