You went to bed late, there are no clean clothes, and someone finished the last of the orange juice. But never fear, it’s not too late to turn this dreary Monday around. Here are a few ways to brighten up the day:

Eat breakfast. Even if you forgot it this morning, it’s not too late to snack on some hearty protein and slow-burning carbs to help beat hunger pains.

  • Bump some tunes. Listening to music can boost mood. If you’re lagging behind today, play something with a quick tempo. Try a slower paced song if you’re feeling wired.
  • Smile. Go ahead, do it. Smiling can trick our brain into feeling happier.
  • Take a break. Better yet, hit the gym. Both will help you feel less blue, but the workout’s especially great for upping endorphins.
  • Indulge in a little something special. Starbucks, online shopping— you name it. You deserve it!

The Takeaway: Even if the day started out on the wrong foot, it’s not too late to turn it around. Read on for even more tips to plan better in the future.

Did You Hear…?

Turns out a little office gossip could boost morale. Only the good kind, that is— gossip that shares negative information to help or protect others.

Fun Fact:

Gossip often starts with the phrase “I heard…” because people find it less morally objectionable to admit they don’t know if what they’re saying is true. (In other words, it’s not an actual lie.)
