Similar to a Spritzer or a wine cooler, this Iberian cocktail is very refreshing—its name translates to “red wine of summer,” which gives you a clue how popular it is as a warm-weather drink. If you’re still unsure, think of it as a simplified version of sangria. It’s also a close cousin to the classic (if odd-sounding) Spanish combo of wine and cola that is the Kalimotxo. La Casera is the Spaniards’ preferred brand of soda mixer, but Sprite, 7UP, or lemon Fanta is a fine substitute. For something a little more familiar, try our Gin and Tonic Barcelona Style too.

We recommend serving with a homemade paella recipe.
