As one of the OGs in the industry, Beautyrest — which has been around since the 1920s — is a brand with a solid reputation known for trustworthy, supportive mattresses.

But as the company nears a century of mattress making, are the mattresses still (once upon) a dream? Here are the deets on the Beautyrest brand and its goal to make your sleep a Beauty. 👸💤

All five models have their own personalities. Here’s a closer look at the details.

Pricing guide

A Beautyrest mattress will probably cost more than most bed-in-a-box models.

All pricing is based on a queen-size mattress. Remember that add-ons or adjustments to firmness can affect the overall price.

  • $ = under $1,250
  • $$ = $1,250–$2,400
  • $$$ = over $2,400

Black

  • Price: $$$
  • Type: hybrid
  • Height: 13 or 15 inches
  • Firmness: medium, plush
  • Good for: people who sleep hot

Sweating is for the gym, not the bedroom (well, depending on what you’re doing, obvi 😉).

The Black mattress is designed to help people sleep cooler, so say goodbye to clammy sheets and night sweats.

The mattress is available in three versions, and all three feature a heat-wicking cover and gel memory foam to keep you iceeee cold. You can upgrade to a “cooling” version for an extra layer of cooling foam and a “cooling + comfort” version to add cooling foam and a plush pillow top.

Reviewers give the mattress high marks for its cooling performance and comfort, but some complain about premature sagging.

Black Hybrid

  • Price: $$$
  • Type: hybrid
  • Height: 13.5 or 15 inches
  • Firmness: medium, plush, ultra-plush
  • Good for: side sleepers, people looking for pressure relief

This model has the same cool-to-the-touch cover as the Black mattress, but it also has an additional layer of foam that’s supposed to contour to your body and provide extra pressure relief.

You can opt for the “comfort” upgrade for extra layers of foam and a plush feel, or the “comfort + pressure relief” upgrade for an added layer of latex foam and an ultra-plush feel.

Harmony

  • Price: $
  • Type: hybrid
  • Height: 13, 13.5, or 16.5 inches
  • Firmness: extra-firm, medium, plush
  • Good for: back sleepers, sleepers on a budget

The Harmony mattress is Beautyrest’s cheapest option, so it’s a solid pick for people strapped for cash. The mattress cover is made using TENCEL yarn and fabric made from recycled ocean plastics. It also has charcoal-infused memory foam that the brand says is cooling and pressure relieving.

You can choose between diff firmness options for this one (and you can upgrade the cooling and comfort level, too). Reviewers are happy with this mattress, saying it’s comfortable, cooling, and stops them from tossing and turning.

But some say that sagging is an issue, and a few customers find even the plush version too firm.

Harmony Lux Carbon

  • Price: $$
  • Type: hybrid
  • Height: 13.5, 13.75, or 15.75 inches
  • Firmness: extra-firm, medium, plush
  • Good for: all sleepers

The Harmony Lux Carbon is super similar to the Harmony. Its cover is also made from fabric made from recycled ocean plastics, but this one incorporates cooling fabric and gel memory foam to turn down the heat.

You can also add a pillow top onto it, which means you’re adding on an extra layer of foam for more of a sinking-in feel. Reviewers like the soft, plush feel and have few complaints about durability.

Harmony Lux Diamond

  • Price: $$
  • Type: hybrid
  • Height: 14.75, 15, or 17.25 inches
  • Firmness: medium, plush
  • Good for: all sleepers

The Harmony Lux Diamond is another step up from the Harmony mattresses. It has the same sustainable, cooling cover as the Harmony Lux Carbon, but extra layers of memory foam for pressure relief. You can also add on a pillow top layer for that sleeping-on-a-marshmallow feel.

Reviewers seem happy with their mattress and rave about its pressure relief and cooling abilities. But one customer says that the cooling tech is not quite up to par with what they expected.

Pros of a Beautyrest mattress

  • possible durability issues, according to reviewers

Picking a mattress is almost an art. Sniffing out the fakes and outrageously overpriced stuff takes a keen eye.

Thankfully, Beautyrest is a well-known brand with a great reputation, so shopping isn’t too complicated. It all comes down to a few key considerations:

  • Price. Some of Beautyrest’s mattresses get up there in price. Figure out your budget before you start shopping so you know where to start — the Harmony is the cheapest of ’em.
  • Mattress type. Beautyrest only sells hybrid models on their website (though they do sell all-foam versions in-store). Hybrids combine the supportive, bouncy feel of coils with the soft, plush feel of foam. They tend to be more durable than all-foam models.
  • Firmness. Beautyrest has a solid lineup of firmness options. Which one you should pick is a bit of a personal preference — some people like to melt into their mattress, while others like to lie on it. Your sleep style comes into play, too. Sleep on your stomach or back? Firmer models may offer better support and spinal alignment. More of a side sleeper? Opt for something softer with a bit of give to prevent the mattress from digging into your hips and shoulders.
  • Upgrades. Do you need that $400 pillow top? If you like a plush feel, it’s a solid add-on that’ll give you plenty of bang for your buck. Sleep hot? Consider a cooling upgrade. Just always read reviews to make sure the cooling features live up to the added price.

Here’s what you need to know about the company’s policies.

  • Free shipping. Pay nada for shipping when you buy from Beautyrest. Someone will also set up your mattress and take away your old one at no extra charge.
  • 100-night trial. Yes, you have to fork over the dough up-front, but Beautyrest offers a decent trial period. Not happy with the mattress? Start the return process and get a full refund. Beautyrest will arrange for pickup, so you don’t have to deal with shipping it back yourself.
  • 10-year warranty. This is the industry standard because a mattress should always last at least 10 years. A few customers say that they experienced sagging and dipping well before the warranty period was up. Depending on the depth of the sagging, Beautyrest may or may not honor the warranty.

You can buy the five models listed above directly from the Beautyrest website.

Beautyrest also sells other mattresses (like the Silver line), but you’ll have to check out their authorized third-party retailers to get your hands on one of those models.

When you buy online, you get access to a 100-night in-home trial along with complimentary white glove delivery and setup — so you don’t have to drag in a gigantic mattress inside on your own.

Beautyrest is a popular mattress company, but ultimately, it’s your call whether this brand will end up spending the night.

If you want a hybrid mattress from a reputable household name, a Beautyrest is a solid brand to consider. Remember, you’ve got 100-nights to try it out for yourself.

Not the mattress of your dreams? Don’t be afraid to send it back for a full refund and continue your search for one that’ll get you the beauty sleep you need.
