Starting the day with a fresh-from-the-oven blueberry muffin or slice of banana bread sounds great, but those breakfast treats are often loaded with butter and sugar. Give baked goods a healthy makeover by substituting half of the oil or butter with unsweetened applesauce. If you like the taste, try using ¾ applesauce next time.

Do it Today: In the kitchen, use applesauce instead of butter or oil for moist, tasty baked goods with way less fat and fewer calories.

Nutritious Noodles:

This one’s a no-brainer — whole-wheat pasta has more vitamins, protein, fiber, and healthy fat than the white stuff.

Goin’ Greek:

In addition to being a protein-loaded superfood, Greek yogurt makes a great low-cal substitute for sour cream.
