S’mores are a campfire classic, but why not change up your dessert game the next time you go camping and try these decadent banana boats? All you need is a banana, some tinfoil, and whatever sweet or savory fillings you choose. Staying at home? You can make these even without a campfire: Simply place the prepared banana boats in a 425°F oven for 5 to 10 minutes. Or make them on the grill at your next BBQ.

- Yield: 1 serving
- Difficulty: Easy
- Total: 15 mins
Ingredients (2)
- 1 large banana
- 2 to 3 tablespoons of toppings of your choice, alone or in combination: semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, mini marshmallows, peanut butter, caramel sauce, etc.
Instructions
- Slice an unpeeled banana lengthwise without cutting all the way through the top or bottom of the peel. Gently open it so it’s like a boat, then fill with the toppings of your choice, pressing them into the flesh without squishing. Wrap the banana tightly in foil.
- Cook in the coals of the campfire, away from any active flames, for about 10 minutes. Serve hot.
