In moderation, alcoholic drinks like wine, beer, and even the harder stuff can provide some legit health benefits. Red wine is a stealth superfood (superdrink?), with antioxidants called phenols that can reduce risk of heart disease and hypertension. A nice glass of Bordeaux can also help the body by increasing “good” HDL cholesterol and lowering levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol. Just remember to imbibe in moderation — fun as it may be, doctors don’t recommend getting totally smashed every night. (Keep it to one drink per day for women, and no more than two per day for men.)
