Growing up, I loved to skate. So, when I started playing ice hockey in my early teens (with the slightly deluded aspiration of becoming that girl from the Mighty Ducks), I don't think anyone was too surprised. My love of hockey also extended to high school field hockey, where I was able to practice my skills off the ice. I try to skate regularly, and now, as soon as it gets cold enough, I also volunteer with the non-profit Figure Skating in Harlem, instructing girls on ice skating basics. When I'm not skating, I'm up for trying anything that's fun and challenging, be it an (intense!) barre-based fitness class or hiking a mountain. Right now, I'm beginning to train for a half-marathon-meets-obstacle-course this spring.I live in New York City and have written about health and wellness for Weight Watchers, AOL's ThatsFit.com and MyDaily.com, YourTango.com and SheKnows.com, among others. My most troublesome weakness is... Pizza, hands down. Also, remembering that even though certain foods are "healthy," they still have calories!I'm looking forward to learning more about... The different mental states that trigger our cravings and food choices. Basically, how does our mood impact what we eat? Also, more about the amazing things our bodies can do if we push them just a little bit harder.
