After snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, surfing in Hawaii, swimming with dolphins in Mexico, and white water rafting in West Virginia, my appetite for adventure has only increased. My favorite way to stay active is by utilizing the biggest and best gym on the planet: the great outdoors. Although I have already checked a few endeavors off of my rapidly growing bucket list, I plan to keep trying everything while having plenty of laughs in the meantime. While it is not exactly easy to “hang ten” in Iowa, I still manage to keep myself busy with activities that do not involve picking corn. Instead of riding combines, I enjoy writing combine-ations of pretty much anything— including terrible puns. It is this passion for writing that has inspired me to study Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Iowa. I am also a Pilates certified instructor and love teaching fitness classes at the university recreational center. It is my goal to help people feel happy, healthy, and self-empowered. In my quest to be my best, I have learned that the easiest way for me to overcome any challenge is with a positive attitude (and maybe a good knock knock joke). My most troublesome weakness is... pecan pie. It was a sad time when I realized that the pecans did not magically transform the dessert into a guilt free goody. This also applies to other members of the pie family such as apple, coconut cream, and the ever so misleading carrot cake.I'm looking forward to learning more about... fitness, health, and happiness. Call me captain obvious, but I want to learn how be my greatist.
