Meet Dr. Jim Withers, aka the “Street Doctor” in Pittsburgh, who is reinventing the way we look at health care by bringing medical attention to people unlikely to seek it when they’re sick or injured — all while dressed as a homeless person. Since 1992, Withers estimates he’s treated 1,200 homeless people each year. He’s also grown his practice into the nonprofit Operation Safety Net, part of the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System. We’re tremendously inspired by Withers’ work — and, after watching this video, you will be too.
