Here are samples of the blocks and other graphic elements that are currently supported on the Greatist Post publishing platform.
To give yourself an easy way to open any article you’re looking at directly in Post, place your cursor in the hyperlinked text below and hold it, then drag it into your bookmarks bar.
(Updated 17 Dec 20)
DO NOT EDIT THIS BLOCK DIRECTLY! Instead, click the double square symbol, then add your content.
Replace the placeholder image on the left with a 200×200 pixel photo of the author.
NEW: the Affiliate Disclaimer block is now automatically added at frontend where needed.
Is CBD Legal? Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal on the federal level, but are legal under some state laws. Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws. Check your state’s laws and those of anywhere you travel. Keep in mind that nonprescription CBD products are not FDA-approved, and may be inaccurately labeled.
The safety and long-term health effects of using e-cigarettes or other vaping products still aren’t well known. In September 2019, federal and state health authorities began investigating an outbreak of a severe lung disease associated with e-cigarettes and other vaping products. We’re closely monitoring the situation and will update our content as soon as more information is available.
While research suggests there are health benefits, the FDA doesn’t monitor or regulate the purity or quality of essential oils. It’s important to talk with your healthcare provider before you begin using essential oils and be sure to research the quality of a brand’s products. Always do a patch test before trying a new essential oil.

To embed videos produced by Healthline, use the item called simply “JWPlayer” that is in the Widget section of the block menu. Don’t use the “JWPlayer Video” block that’s in Reusable Blocks.
This is the product review component of the Product block. It is used to add any targeted information for this particular instance of the product.
It wraps nicely around the image, as you can see. If you just used a new Paragraph block, the text would start below the image and button.
The blocks themselves should not include price information. Instead, include the following indicator in this product review section.
To include a small image on the right or left and have text wrap around it, do the following:
- Insert an Image block
- Add the desired image via the Media Library.
- From the menu above, select the “Align Left” (or Right, as desired) format.
- Click on the image to select it. You’ll know it’s selected when there are blue dots at the side and bottom of the image boundary.
- With the image still selected, from the right-hand nav bar, under Image Settings, select 50%.
For gifs, use an image block and the .gif version of the Giphy link in the Insert from URL field.
NOTE: Instagram embeds are currently not supported because of a change Facebook (the owner of IG) made to permissions. Restoring this functionality is on the Post team’s roadmap. (11/20/20)
Use “You Might Like” in the Label field. Search Article pulls up a list of possibilities. When you select the article, the thumbnail associated with it automatically populates the image slot on the left.
Do NOT use the “Quote” block. It is not supported at frontend.
Note that the citation field in the block, used to attribute the quote, is currently disabled. This is a known issue.
Do not include quotation marks around the pull quote — they’re built into the widget. Any quotation marks used within the pull quote should be single quotes.
This is what a Pullquote Block looks like.
List block is used to input either bulleted or numbered lists. They can work well preceded by a heading too.

The General Standout block is an all-purpose block in the sense that it’s a block that can contain just about every other kind of block Post has. It’s great for just about anything you need to do. A few examples are below.
The Pro/Con block was originally designed to summarize the positives and negatives of a treatment, practice, supplement, medication, etc. The Pro/Con block can be used with both a Pro and a Con, only a Pro, or only a Con. In any case, the Pro title gets a check-mark and the Con title gets an X.
If you have only one or the other, or don’t want the check-mark or X, other options would be General Standout block or a List block.
NEW: There are a few quirks involved in adding a Pro-Con block correctly. Check out this 2-minute video for the process.
To use the new Bodymap block:
- Copy the embed URL and paste it into a note or doc so you can copy the URL out of it.
- Insert a Bodymap block in the desired location of your article.
- Copy only the URL from the iframe embed and paste it in the “URL” field.
The CDC recommends that all people wear cloth face masks in public places where it’s difficult to maintain a 6-foot distance from others. This will help slow the spread of the virus from people without symptoms or people who do not know they have contracted the virus. Cloth face masks should be worn while continuing to practice social distancing. Instructions for making masks at home can be found here. Note: It’s critical to reserve surgical masks and N95 respirators for healthcare workers.
