The NordicTrack Select-A-Weight dumbbell set features two fully adjustable dumbbells that can range in weight from 10 up to 55 lbs. each. — replacing up to 30 separate weights.

You can quickly and easily adjust the weight of the dumbbells using a simple pin system. Just slide the pins to the weight level you want and the unneeded weight plates will disconnect from the dumbbell and remain on the storage tray.

The full price for a set on the NordicTrack website is $599. It’s also important to note that the Select-A-Weight dumbbells on Amazon are significantly cheaper — but if you compare the photos, they’re a different model than the ones currently sold on NordicTrack’s website.

Specs

Each dumbbell weighs up to 55 lbs. and the entire set (including the storage stands) clocks in at 125 lbs.

The dimensions for each dumbbell on its stand are about 9 x 19 x 11 inches.

Features

Each NordicTrack Select-A-Weight Dumbbell can be adjusted to the following weights:

  • 10 lbs.
  • 12.5 lbs.
  • 15 lbs.
  • 20 lbs.
  • 22.5 lbs.
  • 25 lbs.
  • 30 lbs.
  • 32.5 lbs.
  • 35 lbs.
  • 40 lbs.
  • 42.5 lbs.
  • 45 lbs.
  • 50 lbs.
  • 52.5 lbs.
  • 55 lbs.

With this many adjustments, each dumbbell is able to replace 15 (!!) separate dumbbells — saving wild amounts of space in any home gym.

It’s really easy to adjust the weight, too. When the dumbbell is on its storage tray, drag the outer pin to the “tens” weight you want (10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 lbs). Then move the inner pin to 2.5, 5, or 0 lbs. to make smaller adjustments to the weight. When you lift the dumbbell, the extra, unneeded weight will remain on the tray.

iFit

On top of everything, your purchase comes with a free 30-day iFit family membership, which provides access to live and on-demand streaming fitness content. Many of the weightlifting workouts on iFit utilize the NordicTrack Select-A-Weight Dumbbells, too. The family membership allows you to create up to 6 different profiles, so y’all can all do your own thing.

After your free trial, you can cancel your iFit membership or pay to continue using it. Paying for a membership might not be 100 percent necessary if you already have another subscription you’re using (like Peloton) — but if you don’t currently have a fitness membership, iFit is full of class options like yoga, strength training, HIIT, running, and more.

Here’s how much it costs:

  • Individual: $15/month (or $180/year)
  • Family: $39/month (or $396/year)

Curious how these bad boys work? Here’s a how-to just for you.

Reviews on the NordicTrack Select-A-Weight Dumbbells are pretty mixed.

Many reviewers complain that some of the plastic pieces — like the pins — don’t seem very durable. Considering the price of these dumbbells, they rightfully worry that these plastic parts may wear out quickly, drastically shortening the lifespan of this equipment.

A lot of reviewers also say that it’s difficult to get the weights seated correctly in the stand, and that adjusting the weights isn’t as straightforward as it’s made to seem on the NordicTrack website. They say that it’s not good for quick weight changes. Ugh.

Reviewers also note that they’re bulky compared to traditional dumbbells, so it may take you some time to adjust to the different feel of the weight.

A final complaint is that there is only a 90-day warranty, which seems short for a product that costs nearly $600 at full price.

Regardless, there are still many reviewers who are perfectly pleased with the dumbbells despite issues they may encounter with the weight adjustments.

Writer’s review

I’ve been trying out the Select-a-Weight dumbbells for a few weeks now, and here are my honest thoughts:

First off, they are BIG. If you’re used to smaller non-adjustable dumbbells (like I am), they will definitely take some getting used to. But this is just a fact of life when it comes to adjustable dumbbells — they’re allll massive.

I find it really easy to adjust the weight. The pins and dials slide easily, and the base is clearly marked with the weights that you’re able to choose from (and which combination of pin and dial selections will get you there).

I sometimes have trouble getting the dumbbell to slide easily back onto the base, but this isn’t a huge hindrance and I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than a few seconds trying to get the dumbbell to line up correctly.

To me, the base seems fairly durable, despite some poor reviews re: its plastic-ness. It’s thick plastic, so while it’s not as heavy duty as the dumbbells themselves, it should last a while with normal use.

Finally, there’s some mildly unsettling rattling that occurs when you’re working out with added plates on the dumbbell, and the very slight shifting of the individual weight plates as you workout can make you paranoid for your toes. BUT I felt confident throughout all of my testing that the plates weren’t going anywhere.

Overall, I’m really impressed with these dumbbells — doubly so because they replace so many individual pairs and can grow with you as you get stronger, especially if you’re a beginner.

If you qualify for financing, you can pay as little as $15.35/month for 39 months for this set.

Additionally, NordicTrack offers a 30-day return policy for a refund if you’re not satisfied. Unfortunately, they don’t refund the cost of shipping — AND you’ll be charged a return shipping fee of $250. OUCH. Who hurt you, NordicTrack?

And again, the 90-day warranty on these dumbbells is a significant complaint of many reviewers dealing with defective bells.

This leaves a sour taste in the mouth of anyone who’s had a bad experience with these dumbbells, and many people complain that NordicTrack’s customer service isn’t the easiest to deal with either.

These adjustable dumbbells are convenient, space-saving, and take the place of up to 30 individual dumbbells.

However, some of NordicTrack’s policies are pretty shoddy, and customers say that the dumbbells aren’t as durable as they were expecting considering the high price.

Regardless, they may be a good fit for you if you enjoy using iFit, or if you already have iFit-connected equipment — especially since iFit features Select-A-Weight workouts.

Additionally, despite the mixed reviews, many customers are still totally satisfied with their dumbbell purchase through NordicTrack.

NordicTrack doesn’t have the market cornered, though. *Mugatu voice* Adjustable dumbbells are so hot right now.

The main competitor for NordicTrack’s Select-A-Weight Dumbbells is the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells, which have amassed a seriously cult-like following of devoted fans.

Another popular choice is the Powerblock Sport 24 set, which gives us major 80s vibes but offers an inexpensive alternative to the pricier versions from NordicTrack and Bowflex.

Are NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells good?

Yes! Many peeps are totally satisfied with their adjustable dumbbells from NordicTrack. They’re convenient and space-saving, and take the place of up to 30 individual dumbbells. They could also be a great fit for you if you already have an iFit membership and want to take advantage of iFit Select-A-Weight workouts.

But some customers say that the dumbbells aren’t as durable as they were expecting considering the high price. And NordicTrack’s return policy and warranty aren’t amazing — so if you don’t love them or if something goes wrong, you’re kind of SOL.

How much are NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells?

NordicTrack Select-A-Weight adjustable dumbbells cost $599 — or you can pay $15.35/month for 39 months if you qualify for financing.

Keep an eye out for deals on NordicTrack’s website, too. You might be able to snag a discount.

They also come with a 30-day iFit Family membership, which costs $39/month (or $396/year) if you want to keep the membership after your free trial.

How do you use NordicTrack adjustable weights?

Using NordicTrack’s Select-A-Weights is pretty easy.

NordicTrack’s premium-priced Select-A-Weight Dumbbells replace a whopping 30 individual dumbbells thanks to the range of adjustments they offer between 10 and 55 lbs., but if you run into any problems with your dumbbells it may be a pain to deal with customer service or try to return them. YMMV.
