Next time you host a Mexican-themed get-together, forget the margaritas. Whip up this drink that combines absinthe with tequila for an impressive cocktail that’s easy to make at home. While any tequila will do, we recommend using QUI for the full Mexican flag effect. QUI is the first-ever platinum (read: clear) extra-añejo. Filtered nine times, it’s super smooth with notes of sweet floral and vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 part Campari
  • 1 1/2 parts tequila (we like QUI Tequila)
  • 3/4 part lime juice
  • 1/4 part absinthe
  • 1/2 partsimple syrup
  • Lime peel, for garnish

Directions

  1. Pour Campari into a rock glass and fill with ice.
  2. Combine tequila, lime juice, absinthe, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice and shake for 5 seconds. Strain into prepared glass.
  3. Peel a lime all the way around, and wrap around inner rim of glass to create a Mexican flag effect.
