If you’re like us, you probably always have a tub of hummus in your fridge. It makes for a great snack, whether you grab a spoon and go in or use it as a dip for veggies or pita chips. But if your hummus intake stops there, you’re missing out big time.

Hummus can be used in so many dishes—as a pizza sauce replacement, creamy vegan pasta sauce option, or baste for a chicken. If you’re feeling ambitious, start by making your own batch. If not, store-bought works just as well in these hummus-filled recipes.

1. Hummus-Crusted Chicken

Any dish with just three ingredients is a winner in our book. When you want to spice up boring chicken breast recipes (so… always), hummus is a super easy way to do it. Pick your favorite flavor and use a rubber spatula to spread it over chicken. Then just season, bake, and serve with your fave veggies.

2. Avocado, Hummus, and Feta Grilled Cheese

We’re all about a good grilled cheese, especially when it’s packed with healthy fats. After all, it is the ultimate comfort food. Stack your go-to bread with Havarti, feta, avocado, and a swipe of hummus. The hummus gives it a stronger flavor than usual, and we mean that in the best way.

3. Hummus and Veggie Breakfast Bowls

Hummus isn’t usually on our minds when it comes to breakfast, but this bowl is proving us wrong. It also makes it way easier to sneak veggies into your morning meal, which can be a struggle. Prep the veggies the night before to make your morning rush a little smoother.

4. Hummus Veggie Pizza

Oh, pizza, how we love you so. When you want one with a Mediterranean twist, use hummus as a “sauce” instead of marinara. So smart, right?! Then you can top it with some Med-inspired veggies, like artichokes, olives, and cherry tomatoes.

5. Homemade Hummus Bread

File this under “things you didn’t know were possible.” Hummus bread sounds kinda weird at first, but it’s actually a smart way to make bread moist and flavorful, and kills two birds with one stone when it comes to snacking.

6. One-Pot Creamy Hummus Pasta

Speaking of the hummus-as-sauce move, you can definitely turn the dip into a protein-packed pasta sauce. It’s got a smooth texture, especially when added to just-cooked pasta with a little pasta water remaining (a.k.a. it’s perfect for when you want a creamy dish without all that cream).

7. Vegan Hummus Quesadilla

Hummus really is so versatile and makes a great addition to lots of vegan meals. Use it in place of cheese in this quesadilla, which also has black beans, spinach, corn, and tomatoes. It’s way more filling than the standard chicken-and-cheese order. But hey, no one’ssaying you can’t also add chicken if that’s what your heart stomach desires.

8. Cucumber Hummus Tostadas

The Mediterranean meets Mexico with these crunchy tostadas. Avocado and hummus are perfect together, which you probably know, but the cucumber-pico salsa is really what we’re here for. It’s fresh and just a little spicy if you top with hot sauce.

9. One-Pot Greek Chicken and Rice

One-pot meals have our heart, especially on busy weekdays. Feel free to replace chicken breasts with thighs for more tender meat and, in our opinion, a little more flavor. Stirring in hummus at the end helps blend all the veggies together and gives the otherwise low-key dish a major boost.
