Last night I was craving something creamy and yummy, so I searched the web in an effort to find something to satisfy my craving. I came across a lot of recipes that were very similar in nature, so I used the basic structure and tweaked it a bit. I added the addition of some spices, and next time I think I will add some spinach. Turmeric can be added for an extra orange color. The almonds and water can easily be replaced with soy, rice, or coconut milk. You may need to add a thickener though such as arrowroot, flour, or corn starch. Here is the recipe I made, and I must say it was good! I plan to eat the rest of it for lunch today.

  • Yield: enough sauce for one box of pasta
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Total: 30 minutes

Ingredients (11)

  • 1 cup of almonds or nuts of your choice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 small can of pimenteos
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 2-3 tbsp parsley
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp honey or molasses
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Blend all of the above ingredients in the blender until smooth. I used my new Ninja.
  2. Cook on stove top stirring constantly for about 10 minutes.
  3. Pour over pasta. Enjoy!
