Cinnamon sugar is simply that: a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar that can be sprinkled on buttered toast, Mexican sopapillas (fried dough) and buñuelos (batter fritters), German snickerdoodle cookies, French toast, and coffee cake.

  • Yield: Makes about 1/2 cup
  • Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients (2)

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon. Use true (soft-stick) cinnamon for mild, aromatic flavor; use cassia cinnamon for bolder, spicier flavor. Or crush 1 cinnamon stick and grind in a spice grinder with 1/4 cup sugar until a fine powder is formed, then mix in 1/4 cup more sugar.
