Yonanas Frozen Treat Maker
Yonanas, the contraption that turns overripe bananas and other frozen fruit into creamy, gelato-like goodness, is one of those gadgets we never thought we needed. After all, the fruit-to-dessert machine sounds like something only Willy Wonka could dream up, but after trying Yonanas, we’re full-blown ambassadors. Now we don’t know how we ever lived without it.
The premise almost sounds silly: Freeze fruit for 24 hours (or opt for the store bought variety), place the fruit in the chute at the top of the machine, and seconds later all-natural sorbet—minus all the added sweetener—comes out the spigot at the bottom.
We became Yonanas mixologists pretty quickly. Want to mimic mint chocolate chip ice cream? Place two bananas and a peppermint pattie in the chute. Looking to get a little more gourmet? Mix two bananas with a tablespoon of lime zest in the Yonanas and sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top of the finished product for a key-lime-pie-inspired treat. Our personal favorite, however, is frozen banana rum cocktails (yes, you can even stick alcohol in the Yonanas).
The best part? Clean up is a breeze! Simply detach the fruit chute from the base and place under running water for a minute or two.
