Whether you’re excited for sweater weather or trying to keep summer from slipping through your hands, fall has officially arrived on store shelves across the country. The pumpkin spice latte (PSL, obvi) has returned to Starbucks, but there’s a new craze in town: pumpkin spice-scented face masks.

Where can you find your own festive face covering? You can grab some disposable ones from Walmart — but so far they haven’t gotten great reviews. There are currently only two reviewers, and neither reviewer received an orange mask as advertised (both got black masks). When it comes to the product’s scent, however, both loved it.

FYI: If you see a mask design that says “pumpkin spice-scented,” make sure you read the item’s description before assuming it actually is! Some are created specifically for folks to wear as a joke.

Want to DIY a scented face mask? Try adding a drop or two of your fave fall-inspired essential oils to a cloth mask. Pumpkin spice scents typically include notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, but go with whatever makes you feel all warm and cozy!

PSA on scents and your skin

Fragrances can irritate your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. If you experience redness or irritation when you’re using a scented mask, swap it for an unscented face mask ASAP.

While research suggests there are health benefits, the FDA doesn’t monitor or regulate the purity or quality of essential oils. It’s important to talk with your healthcare provider before you begin using essential oils and be sure to research the quality of a brand’s products. Always do a patch test before trying a new essential oil.
