Cruising around in a rowing boat really works the muscles and heart, but for most of the year we’d rather stay on dry land. Get all the benefits (and avoid the possibility of falling into a cold body of water!) with a session on the rowing machine, or ergometer.

Those knees can take a pounding, but thankfully not all exercises have to be high-impact.
