In high school, I was the girl with the stacks of health magazines in the corner, old running shoes, and dreams of becoming a bodybuilder. Even though my bodybuilding dreams died down, my health and fitness interests didn't. Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies, especially since I am a newbie vegan. I love trying to create Jamaican meals I grew up with into vegan dishes. As for exercise, I am training to run my first 5k in the fall. Outside of Greatist, I am a print journalism student at Howard University and the creator of youngblackvegan.blogspot.com. I have worked with 101 Magazine and The Express Times in Easton, Pennsylvania. In my spare time, I like to sing, read, travel and do the running man in various locations.
