Jason is a biologist with over ten years of experience performing research within the pharmaceutical industry. He has had the opportunity to acquire a wide breadth of knowledge and skills, and has conducted extensive biomedical research in the areas of microbiology, emerging bacterial resistance to antibiotics, and the biological mechanisms underpinning autoimmune disease pathology.
Jason is also passionate about health and fitness and has over twenty years of experience with various forms of resistance and athletic training. He served four years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps where he became further committed to the study of physical training and fitness. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In addition to building a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, he has also applied his formal training in the natural sciences to further pursue his passion in health and fitness. This has allowed him to amass a sophisticated, diverse body of knowledge in the field.
In October of 2008 Jason began pursuing the sport of Olympic weightlifting. He currently trains with the Boston Weightlifting club and competes in several USA Weightlifting sanctioned meets each year. He has chosen The Greatist as his source of factual health and fitness information in order to maintain the level of fitness required to meet the grueling demands of his training. Last but not least, Jason is also eager to share his expertise and ideas with our on-line community.
My most troublesome weakness is... My current problem is making sure that I've rested and recovered adequately before engaging in intense training again.
I'm looking forward to learning more about... I'm interested in learning new things in all facets of fitness and health. In regard to my chosen sport (Olympic Weightlifting), I'm interested in increasing absolute and explosive strength.
