#DiagnoseTrump started trending on Twitter after Karen Bass, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, posted a Change.org petition calling for Donald Trump to be evaluated for mental illness. Unsurprisingly, people were quick to make diagnoses as armchair therapists:

Trump may have a mental illness, but that's not something any of us (therapists and psychiatrists included) can diagnose from afar.

Rep. Bass says Trump has Narcissistic Personality Disorder in her petition. Even if that diagnosis turned out to be correct, it can't explain away the endless list of offensive things Trump has said or done along the campaign trail. The hate he spews shows he's racist, sexist, Islamaphobic, and anti-Semitic—not mentally ill. 

Luckily, many Twitter uses have pointed out the big problems with #DiagnoseTrump:
