Despite the temptation to down chili dogs and potato salad this July 4th, there is a healthier option… and it comes in the form of an icy cold cocktail. What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with some booze, along with a heaping serving of Greatist superfoods? Frozen strawberries pack a punch of vitamin C, manganese, and fiber, while watermelon provides lycopene, which helps protect skin from the sun’s rays (who wants a sunburn that resembles an American flag?). Don’t forget to add alcohol, but go easy — too many of these things and you’ll be singing the National Anthem in your birthday suit.
