Running in the Morning

It promises a healthier body, better mood, and the perfect opportunity to ignore your inbox and clear your mind. Plus, you can do it anywhere for the price of a pair of sneakers—maybe less if you’re a fan of barefoot running. But this is no infomercial, and we’re totally aware that for some people, the only good reason to hit the ground running is if you’re being chased (by something incredibly terrifying—and fast). But for many others, running is a beloved butt-kicking, calorie-blasting, stress-busting workout.

We understand both points of view, but we also can’t argue with science: Research shows that a regular running routine can seriously improve your physical, emotional, and financial well-being. That’s why we’ve partnered with Brooks Running to bring you Run Week 2014, a five-day celebration of everyone’s (OK maybe not everyone’s) favorite form of cardio.

Starting Monday (March 31), we’ll be rolling out awesome resources to offer instant motivation, help prevent injuries, and even increase your speed. Whether you’re thinking about signing up for your first 5K (heck, even your first jog around the block) or training for your fifth marathon, we’ve got you covered. Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect:

  • Expert Advice on How to Improve Your Running Technique
  • Awesome Workouts to Beat Treadmill Boredom
  • Quick Tips to Stay Injury-Free for Good
  • The Truth About Common Running Myths
  • Inspiring Personal Stories from Runners of All Levels
  • The Chance to Be Featured on Greatist by Joining in the #RunWeek Convo on Twitter and Instagram

And so much more!

Tune in every day next week and then hit the road, trail, track, or treadmill! In the meantime, make sure you're following @greatist on Twitter for hints about what's coming up like the ones below, and share them with your friends to spread the running love (or just make them super curious)!
